Islamabad, MINA – Pakistan has made it clear: they want peace, but if anyone attacks them, they will fight back. The message came during the first ever “Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq” commemoration on May 10, 2026.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari both stressed that while Pakistan stays committed to peace, they won’t just sit still if someone tries to mess with their sovereignty.
In his speech on Saturday, Sharif said the event is a symbol of Pakistan’s strength in facing pressure and conflict. He gave a shout-out to the country’s armed forces for their solid coordination on land, sea, air, and even in cyberspace. According to him, they’ve proven that Pakistan’s defense is no joke.
He also honored the martyrs and military leaders, including Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for their smart leadership in keeping the nation safe.

President Zardari, on the other hand, recalled the events of April and May last year, calling it a “moment of national determination.” That was when India was accused of attacking Pakistan after the Pahalgam incident. He said Operation “Bunyan-um-Marsoos” showed everyone that Pakistan can respond in a measured but strong way.
“Pakistan has proven that our defense capability isn’t just talk. It’s backed by real military readiness and the unity of our people,” Zardari said.
Both leaders also brought up the Kashmir issue, calling it the main source of instability in South Asia. They reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as stated in UN Security Council resolutions.
According to them, without a fair solution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, lasting peace in the region is just a dream.

Beyond the India-Kashmir issue, Pakistan also highlighted its role as a peacemaker in the region. Sharif mentioned that Pakistan has earned international praise for helping mediate and pushing for a ceasefire in the recent US-Iran tensions.
Islamabad says it will keep pushing for diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful solutions to regional conflicts.
This year’s “Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq” was more than just a display of nationalism. It was a clear geopolitical signal to India and the rest of the world: Pakistan has both the military strength and the diplomatic will to play a major role in keeping the region stable.[]
