Activists Call to Thwart Provocative Settler March around Jerusalem’s Old City

Nationalist Jewish Israelis, largely bussed-in yeshiva students, enter the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City through Damascus Gate on Jerusalem Day last year.

Jerusalem, MINA – Activists in Jerusalem Monday called on Palestinians in Jerusalem to thwart a provocative Israeli settlers’ march to commemorate Tisha B’Av and the destruction of their temples, WAFA reported.

Extreme settler organizations, namely the Temple organization called settlers to join a mass march around the old city of Jerusalem to commemorate what they believe is the anniversary of the destruction of the temples.

The march is expected to take off from Bab Al Jadid, the nearest to the western Jerusalem, down to the Western Wall.

As in past marches, settlers will be escorted by Israeli police to protect them while they repeat racist slogans against Arabs and Muslims. (T/RS5/RS1)
