Sana’a, 1 Rajab 1436/20 April 2015 (MINA) –At least 44 people have been killed in Yemen as the crisis continues unabated in the impoverished country, which is being targeted by Saudi Arabian military strikes.

According to medical and local sources on Sunday, 14 members of the popular committees, including Ansarullah fighters of the Houthi movement, were killed in clashes with al-Qaeda terrorists in the southern city of Ta’izz, which has been the scene of such clashes over the past week.

As many as 23 other people, including 17 Ansarullah fighters, were also killed in clashes and Saudi airstrikes in the southern city of Daleh, Press Tv quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Elsewhere, in the province of Shabwa, at least seven members of the Houthi movement were killed in clashes with al-Qaeda.

Also on Sunday, Saudi warplanes bombarded Lawder and Moudiya districts in the Yemeni province of Abyan.

At least 45 civilians were killed and over a hundred injured following Saudi airstrikes on the northwestern Yemeni province of Sa’ada on Saturday.

Saudi Arabia’s air campaign against the Ansarullah fighters of the Houthi movement started on March 26 – without a United Nations mandate – in a bid to restore power to the country’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

According to reports, some 2,600 people, including women and children, have so far lost their lives in the attacks. (T/P002/R03)
