14 Indonesian MPR Members Call on Najib

Kuala Lumpur, 16 Sya’ban 1347/25 May 2016 (MINA) – Fourteen members of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) today called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Parliament House.

The delegation, which was headed by MPR chief Dr Zulkifli Hasan, aimed to, among others, firm up diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The members also discussed economic and social cooperation during the 45-minute meeting, according Bernama, as quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

Also present was Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim.

The MPR members are on a three-day familiarisation tour of Malaysia from today, organised by the Malaysian Foreign Ministry.

They are also scheduled to call on Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and meet with Malaysian-Indonesian People’s Alliance Foundation (YIRMI) chairman Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim.

Indonesia is Malaysia’s seventh largest trading partner and the third biggest among the ASEAN nations.

Bilateral trade last year reached RM60.16 billion. (T/R07/R01)
