TURKISH PM:ASSAD IS MISLEADING

Libreville, Gabon, 26 Safar 1434/8 January 2013 (MINA) – Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the advices of Syrian President Bashar al -Assad could not be considered democratic as Assad was a person killing his own people with bombs and jets.

“Assad describes those against him as members of Al-Qaeda or other terrorist organizations and he is misleading,” Erdogan’s comments came at a joint press conference with his Gabonese counterpart Raymond Ndong Sima in Libreville, Gabon, Anadolu News Agency quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA) Tuesday (8/1) as reporting.

Edrogan stated Assad presently continues state terror. “This is being done by someone claiming to be democrat. This is being done by someone leading state terror.”

50,000 Syrians have been killed due to state terror in Syria. Around 600,000 Syrians had to leave Syria, while 2.5 million in Syria have left homes, Edrogan underlined.

“Who could trust Assad and return home? Who would believe Assad’s remarks on democracy? The Syrian National Coalition have been recognized by over 100 countries in the world. I wonder how many countries remain who recognize Assad,” Edrogan said.

He emphasized there is only one way for Assad, that is to respect the will of the Syrian people and Assad should do it.

Meanwhile, the US has condemned President Bashar al-Assad’s latest speech, saying his peace plan was detached from reality.

Assad laid out his vision for ending the conflict in his speech on Sunday (6/1), saying Syria’s enemies will “go to hell”.

The US state department dismissed the speech as a meaningless attempt to retain power in his war-torn country and urged Assad to step down.(T/R-010/R-006)
