SECOND DEADLY BLAST IN RUSSIA’S VOLGOGRAD

    Volgograd, Russia, 27 Shafar 1435/30 December 2013 (MINA) – After a huge explosion rocked train station Volvograd, second explosion occurred the next day on an electric bus in the city of Volgograd, Russia.

    According to Interfax news agency that at least 10 people have been killed in an explosion on a trolleybus on Monday, Al jazeera quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

     The attack came on Monday, a day after a suicide bomb attack in the same city killed at least 17 people in a train station.

    “A blast happened inside a trolleybus in Volgograd, according to preliminary reports, 10 people died, 10 were wounded,” said Irina Gogoleva, spokeswoman of South Regional Centre of Russia’s Interior Ministry.

     Preliminary findings show that the deadly blast at Russia’s Volvograd train station earlier on Sunday is the work of a suicide bomber, Russian authorities said.

     The National Anti-Terrorist Committee called the explosion an act of terror, and said that the explosive device was detonated by a suspected female suicide bomber.

      Since Sunday, Russian Investigative Committee Representative Vladimir Markin said that a criminal investigation has been launched into the attack.

      Russian Prime Minister Putin said that Putin gave instructions towards taking all precautions to help those affected by the blast.

      Volvograd was hit by a similar attack back in October when a female suicide bomber was accused with a bus explosion that killed seven people.

     The blasts have raised safety concerns in the region ahead of the Winter Olympics 2014 due in February in Sochi, west of Volgograd. (T/P09/P04).
