NATO SOLDIER SHOT DEAD BY INDIVIDUAL IN AFGHAN SECURITY FORCES UNIFORM

        Kabul, 9 Dzulhijjah 1434/14 October 2013 (MINA) – A NATO soldier was shot dead in eastern Afghanistan by an individual in Afghan national security forces uniform on Sunday.

        NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) following a statement said, “An International Security Assistance Force service member was killed Oct. 13 when an individual wearing an ANSF uniform shot the ISAF service member in eastern Afghanistan.”

       The statement further added, “ISAF and Afghan National Security Forces have secured the scene. ISAF and ANSF forces are conducting an investigation, and more details will be released as appropriate,” Khaama Press reported as monitored by (MINA) Mi’raj News Agency, Sunday (9/10).

       ISAF did not disclose further information regarding the exact location of the incident and nationality of the deceased soldier.

       International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) generally do not disclose identities of the NATO soldiers killed in Afgahnistan saying, “It is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.”

       This comes as at least four NATO soldiers were shot dead by individuals in Afghan national security forces uniform in eastern Afghanistan last month. (T/P012/E1)
