Book On Malay History Launched

Kuala Lumpur, 03 Rajab 1437/10 April 2016 (MINA) – The book “Rakyat, Raja dan Kerajaan” (People, Rulers and Government) which was launched Saturday contains the values, philosophies and constitutional practices of the Malays.

The 172-page book, published by the Malay Civilisation Board (ADAB) and launched by Dewan Negara President Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang, is about Malay history, Mi’raj Islamic New Agency (MINA) reported, quoting Bernama..

In his speech at the launch of the book, Abu Zahar suggested that the book be marketed to neighbouring countries like Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam and Thailand.

“The contents of the book include history of the sultanates of South Sulawesi, Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam and can be taught in institutes of higher learning in South Thailand,” he said.

The book, which is being sold at RM100 (hard cover) and RM40 (soft cover), can be bought at Menara Wisma Sejarah.

Meanwhile, ADAB Council chairman Tan Sri Mohd Yusof Hitam said the book could revive the people’s awareness of the history of the Malays.

“The book can be a bridge for the Malays in Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam as well as throughout the Malay archipelago,” he told reporters after the event.  (T/R07/R01)
