The Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States has agreed in principle on the draft charter in a January meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, Al Murr noted.

“Based on its unwavering commitment to combat all sources of terrorism and extremism, and the recognization of the need to achieve further solidarity and cooperation on fighting terrorist threats which no single region or state can counter alone, the UAE has deemed its necessity to come up with a collective stance to face these challenges,” said the speaker.

After the Arab Spring in the Middle East in 2011, the UAE authorities arrested scores of nationals and foreigners, accusing them of planning terror plots in the Gulf country. (T/P010/R03)
