Sudan to Release All Female Political Prisoners

Khartoum, MINA – Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir ordered on Friday, to release all women who were detained during ongoing protests in the country.

Speaking at a political rally in the capital Khartoum, Al-Bashir had ordered Salah, the Head of State Intelligence Gosh to release all female political prisoners without delay, Anadolu Agency reported.

In January, Interior Minister Ahmed Bilal Osman said, around 800 protesters had been arrested but 160 were released in the same month.

Bashir also promised at the rally to carry out economic reforms.

Thousands of women protested in the capital on Thursday to commemorate International Women’s Day. Meanwhile, hundreds of people also demonstrated after Friday prayers, asking Bashir to step down. (T/Sj/P2)
