Rising Palestinian Issue, Indonesian Minister Salutes ICIM

Jakarta, 14 Sha’ban 1437/22 May  2016 (MINA) – Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Lukman Hakim Saifuddin said his appreciation for  International Conference of Islamic Media (ICIM) scheduled to take place in Jakarta on  25-26 May.

He hoped the ICIM  could be a strategic moment in the midst of increasing support toward Palestinian independence and liberation of Al-Aqsa from so many countries.

“Yes, of course, of course we support this conference,” Lukman told Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA), at the Religious Affairs Office in Jakarta, Tuesday (17/5).

He said that the issue has been always important for Indonesia, as it is seen at the OIC’s  Extraordinary  Summit on Palestine recently in Jakarta.

“The Government of Indonesia is certainly look at this issue and continuously monitor also resolve the problems that exist in Palestine,” he added.

According to him, Indonesia and other countries have not been able entirely resolve the problems that occur, it’s still the homework.

“The main thing is how Palestine itself equate perception in addressing the issue, unity among Palestinians themselves needed as a major capital in seeking solutions for Palestinian independence,” he stressed out.

The conference titled “Islamic  Media United to Protect Islam and Muslims interest, Especially Palestine and Al-Quds Liberation” is expected to be a place for media to sit together and bring back unity as it is the basic teaching in Islam.

The two days conference to invite Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia for  opening remarks  in Wisma Antara (Auditorium Adhiyana) Central Jakarta. The committee has also invited the editor in chief of news agencies and media organizations from 50 countries.

The conference  will be presented by some international speakers, among them Imaam Shamsi Ali (Founder Nusantara Foundation; USA), Dr. Daud Abdullah (Director of Middle East Monitor; UK), Sheikh Ahmad Shoyyan (Editor in Chief of Al-Bayan magazine; Saudi Arabia), and Ahmad Ashaaf (chief editor of the Palestinian News Agency WAFA; Palestine).

The conference will also be attended  officials, scholars, community leaders and activists.(L/R04/R03)
