PRO-PALESTINE DEMONSTRATIONS IN EUROPE CONDEMN OCCUPATION ATTACKS

Copenhagen-London, 6 Muharram 1437/19 October 2015 (MINA) – European demonstrators have called on their countries’ governments to halt their support for Israel and to intervene in order to stop the attacks on the Palestinians, denouncing, at the same time, the escalating violations in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem and in Gaza Strip.

Thousands gathered on Saturday evening, in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans in support of the Palestinians, and denouncing the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands, The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Monday (19/10).

The demonstrators carried banners calling on Israel to stop the aggressive practices in the Palestinian territories. The banners condemned the Israeli occupation forces for resorting to brutal force and violence against Palestinian civilians.

Meanwhile, thousands of Britons demonstrated in front of the Israeli embassy in London to condemn the Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians.

The demonstrators urged their government to halt its support for Israel, and cease to justify the continuing violations of human rights in Palestine.

The demonstrators’ slogans demanded justice for the Palestinians, and an end to the Israeli violations in al-Aqsa Mosque. The demonstrators also protested the criminal attacks carried out by Jewish settlers against the Palestinians in full view of the Israeli police and military forces.

This demonstration was called for by non-governmental organizations, including “Friends of al-Aqsa” and the campaign of solidarity with Palestine.

The Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) in cooperation with a number of British solidarity organizations, and with the support of Arab and Muslim communities’ institutions and supporters of the Palestinian cause, called for massive participation in the sit-in in front of the Israeli embassy in London on Saturday.

Hundreds of Palestinian, Arab and foreign activists, including anti-Zionist Jews, had gathered on Tuesday 13th of Oct. in front of the headquarters of the Palestinian diplomatic mission in Britain, condemning the occupation attacks.

In August, British activists asked their government to arrest the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, upon arrival in the UK, and to put him to trial because of the crimes committed by the IOF soldiers against the Palestinian people.

In Paris and in the city of Saint-Etienne, thousands of activists rallied in solidarity with the Palestinian cause and demanded a halt to the Israeli aggression, and the protection of al-Aqsa Mosque.

In the same context, participants in the demonstrations in Germany demanded the government of Angela Merkel to pressure Israel to stop its attacks against the Palestinians, and to stop the crimes and violations against them.

These demands were raised during a protest in the capital Berlin also on Saturday which was organized by “the Palestinian assembly in Germany” in collaboration with multiple institutions and communities.

The demonstrators expressed their anger and condemnation of the escalating attacks carried out by the IOF and the gangs of settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, and the targeting of al-Aqsa Mosque, demanding urgent intervention of the European governments to put pressure on Israel.

The new wave of mass movements against the Israeli escalation of violence, started in Germany in the city of Trier on Friday (16-10) by a mass protest, organized by the “Palestinian assembly in Germany”. The public protests, activities and movements then expanded throughout Germany to include sit-ins and demonstrations in more cities in addition to multi-media activities.

Dr. Suhail Abu Shamala, head of the Palestinian assembly in Germany said that these moves “will continue at all levels, as well as the communications with officials and decision-makers to gain a European position pressuring Israel, and to proceed with the actual steps that will prevent Israel and its settlers from continuing their scheme of physical liquidation of the Palestinians”

Other demonstrations took place for the same purpose in Scotland, Sweden, Australia, Denmark, Canada, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, and the United States of America.(T/P008/R03)
