Tehran, 24 Jumadil Awwal 1438/22 February 2017 (MINA) – A member of Indonesian House of Representatives, Mahfudz Sidik, said that the Palestinian people were looking forward to the realization of Indonesia’s commitment of “One Man, One Dollar.”

One Man, One Dollar ” is a humanitarian movement, which aims to collect donations of one dollar per person to help the Palestinians.

In an interview ahead of the implementation of the International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada Movement, organized by the government of Islamic Republic of Iran in Tehran on February 21 and 22, 2017, Mahfudz told ANTARA here on Monday (Feb 20) that the movement was decided in the Extraordinary Summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif in Jakarta in 2016.

“At the Extraordinary Summit last year, the Indonesian government expressed commitment of One Man, One Dollar to help the Palestinians,” he said, adding that the commitment was highly anticipated by the Palestinian people.

According to Mahfuz, although the Indonesian national economy is sluggish, the humanity movement is not difficult to realize.

“The humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people should not be entirely from the state budget but it can be derived from the Indonesian people,” he explained.

A number of concrete actions have been achieved from the OIC Extraordinary Summit 2016, namely strengthening political support for reviving the peace process in Palestine and increasing the pressure on Israel, including a boycott of Israeli products produced in the occupied territories.

The third action is to increase pressure on the UN Security Council to provide international protection for the Palestinian people and to enable the termination of the Israeli occupation of the holy land of the Muslims.

In addition, asserting a firm rejection over the restriction of access to Al-Aqsa Mosque and providing humanitarian needs is also included. (T/RS05/RS01)
