Islamabad, 29 Rabiul Akhir 1437/08 February 2016 (MINA) – The Pakistani capital, Islamabad, will host a meeting of trade ministers of the Group of Eight Developing Islamic Countries, D-8, on February 17th.

The Commerce Minister of Pakistan, Khurram Dastgir Khan, will chair the session,which will include the trade ministers of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Turkey, Malaysia, Nigeria and Pakistan, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) quoted WAM as reporting on Monday.

According to an official statement, the ministers will discuss key trade issues, particularly the preferential trade agreement, and work to implement it in order to strengthen economic and social relations between the Group of Eight Developing Islamic Countries, consider tariff reductions and dispute settlement mechanisms.

The Developing 8 (D-8) is an organization of eight developing countries that have formed an economic development alliance.

The objectives of D-8 Organization are to improve member states’ position in the world economy. The D-8 organization was founded on June 15, 1997 in Istanbul, Turkey by Necmettin Erbakan, former Turkish Prime Minister. (T/R07/R01)
