PA Demands Israel to Lift Gaza Strip Siege

Ramallah, 06 Syawal 1437/11 July 2016 (MINA) – The Palestinian cabinet Sunday demanded Israel to lift the siege on the Gaza Strip and end all forms of violations, which affect all aspects of Palestinians’ livelihoods, WAFA reported.

Palestinian Authority spokesperson Yousef al-Mahmoud said in a press release issued to mark the second anniversary of the war on the Gaza Strip that the effects of the vicious war on Gaza continue to manifest in the ongoing siege and the horrors of the war which left more than 2000 Palestinians dead, half of them are children and women.

He called on the world to put an end to their silence and effectively intervene to end the collective punishment imposed on the Gaza Strip.

Al-Mahmoud said the Israeli government is trying to maintain the ongoing state of war in Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories through maintaining the siege, threatening and assaulting Palestinians after turning Gaza into a large prison.

He concluded by calling on world organizations and governments, which took part in the Gaza reconstruction conference held in Cairo under the auspices of Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el Sisi following the ceasefire, to meet their obligations to reconstruct and rehabilitate the strip.
