Organizing Committee Finalizes Preparations for Asian Games Opening

Jakarta, MINA –The Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) is finalizing preparations for the opening of Asian Games 2018, so that it would be ready before the deadline of registration of participants (entry by name) by the end of this month.

“Fifty days before the opening, or before June 29, we will launch the medal design as well as the theme song for the Asian Games. By the end week of June, I will personally ensure the readiness for the opening and closing ceremonies,” Antara News quoted INASGOC chairman Erick Thohir as stating here on Thursday.

He noted that 20 thousand people would be involved in the opening of the 18th Asian Games at Gelora Bung Karno main stadium on Aug 18.

“Thousands of dancers have been trained in 20 different clusters. We will unite them in a joint training session in the middle of July,” he remarked.

Thohir, who is also the chairman of the Indonesia Olympic Committee, expressed optimism that the preparations for the opening of the event would be smooth, although the time for it was only three months, instead of six months similar to other multi-sporting events.

Besides medal design and opening ceremony preparations, INASGOC would also prepare online or non-online ticket-selling systems by the end of June.

Thohir added that the Asian Games Torch parade will last from July 15 to August 17 through 54 districts and cities in the country. (T/RS5/RS1)
