OIC Launches Funds to Al-Quds, Orphans, Water Projects in Member States

Doha,09 Jumadil Awwal 1438/06 February 2017 (MINA) – Humanitarian agencies at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation luanched Sunday new funds for Al-Quds and Palestine as well as mosques, orphans and water supplies in OIC member countries.

A humanitarian fund for Al-Quds and Palestine is a special instrument aimed at financing affairs of Jerusalem and Palestine, KUNA quoted Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Thani, chairman of board of trustees of OIC humanitarian funds, as saying.

Sheikh Abdulaziz, speaking at a humanitarian and International forum for humanitarian funds, said this special fund would finance economy and social services of the Palestinian people.

The fund, he added, would also finance housing and educational projects.

“This is aimed at achieving economic stability, and sustainable educational and social development for them (Palestinians) to cement their existence in their country …,” he said.

The funding will take place in collaboration with the Palestinian, regional and international organizations, he explained.

Sheikh Abdulaziz said other funds would be financing the construction of mosques, providing full-fledged services for orphans, addressing water supplies in OIC member countries. (T/RS05/RS01)
