Jeddah, 23 Jumadal Awwal 1437/02 March 2016 (MINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announced on Tuesday that its exceptional summit to be held in Jakarta on March 6-7 will discuss several topics pertaining to situations in Jerusalem and aggressions by Israel against Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The summit will deal with developments in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, including Israel’s policy to change the city’s demography, and Arab and Islamic identity through expanding settlements, OIC said in a statement on Tuesday.

Conferees will focus on developments in the Palestinian territories, especially settlements whose number reached about 700,000 in 2015, Mi’raj Islamic Nws Agency (MINA) reported, quoting KUNA.

Among pressing issues to be discussed is supporting international efforts to resume Palestinian-Israeli negotiations so as to ensure Palestine’s legal rights and set a timetable to put an end to the Israeli occupation, the statement noted.

Deterioration of economic situation in Palestine is also on the summit’s agenda as UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) faces a USD-100-million deficit to meet all demands across Palestine. (R07/R01)
