OIC Expresses Concerns Over Reports of Transferring US Embassy to Jerusalem

Donald Trump will move US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Jeddah, 14Rabiul Akhir 1438/13 January 2017 (MINA) – The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef Ibn Ahmad Al-Othaimeen expressed on Thursday deep concern over reports that US President-elect Donald Trump intends to move US embassy to Jerusalem city, KUNA reported.

In a statement, Al-Othaimeen stressed on behalf of the organization rejection to any action that would prejudice the legal status of the occupied city of Jerusalem, calling on the US administration not to take such illegal step.

Al-Othaimeen also warned of the serious consequences of embarking on the transfer at all levels.

OIC Chief said that this action is contrary to the principles of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution No. (478), which calls on states that had established diplomatic missions in Jerusalem to withdraw such missions from the city.

He also pointed out that the city of Jerusalem remains part of occupied Palestinian territory since 1967 under all international resolutions and the most recent Security Council resolution (2334) issued on December 23rd last year. (T/RS05/RS01)
