OIC Condemns Assassination of Russian Ambassador to Turkey

Jeddah, 21 Rabi’ul Awwal 1438/21 December 2016 (MINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned, in the strongest terms, the heinous assassination of Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov in Ankara on Monday.

OIC Secretary General Yousef Al-Othaimeen expressed his shock over the senseless act of terror and offered his deepest condolences to the family of Ambassador Karlov and to the government of Russia, IINA News reported.

Al-Othaimeen reiterated the principled position of the OIC against all forms of terrorism, pointing to the serious threat posed by terrorism and violent extremism to international peace and security.

He reaffirmed his call for international solidarity in the fight against the twin scourge of terrorism and violent extremism.(T/P008/R07)
