NTB Becomes Most Favorite Halal Tourist Destination

Jakarta, MINA –  The province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) was chosen as the most favorite halal tourist destination in the 2018 Republika Sharia Award (ASR). This award was received by Deputy Governor of NTB 2018 Sitti Rohmi Djalilah and handed over by Agoosh Yoosran as Republika’s President Director.

In the voting held by Republika for a week (30 October-5 November 2018), NTB set aside 13 other provinces in the category of halal tourism destinations.

Of the total votes entered, voting for NTB reached 38 percent, followed by Aceh (27 percent), and West Sumatra (23 percent).

The provinces listed in the other “Favorite Halal Voting Destinations” are West Java, Central Java, East Java, DI Yogyakarta, North Sumatra, Riau-Riau Islands, South Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, DKI Jakarta, Banten and South Sumatra.

The assessment criteria are based on quantitative data in the form of records of industrial performance during 2017 and first quarter performance 2018. Besides quantitative, also based on qualitative indicators such as services and public/consumer views.

fourth assessment included the elements of education and socialization, whether the Islamic finance industry in the country was intensively conducting socialization and education, inviting the public to know, understand, and eventually become their customers.

Meanwhile, the Jury consists of sharia economists, Islamic jurisprudence experts, and the internal jury of Republika. For economists, the Jurisdiction Council Sunarsip and its expert, Dr. Oni Sahroni from National Sharia Council (DSN).

Editor-in-Chief of Republika, Irfan Junaedi hopes that this event can contribute positively to the advancement of Islamic economics in the country, one of which is the halal industry. (T/Sj/RS5)
