New Zealand Government Assists Burial Costs for Terror Victims

Ankara, MINA – New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Sunday, the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) program of the New Zealand government would help cover the funeral costs of all victims of the Christchurch terror attack.

In a statement released on the government website, Ardern said, ACC put more staff in Christchurch, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, Anadolu Agency reported.

He said 34 people were being treated at the Christchurch Hospital, 12 of them in the intensive care unit were in critical condition.

“Also, a four year old girl who was transferred to the Starship Hospital in Auckland remained in critical condition,” Ardern said.

Ardern also said the victim’s family hoped to return all the bodies to the families left on Wednesday.

“For ACC, as I said before the status of immigration is not a factor, it is based on events that occurred in New Zealand,” he added.

In an event such as this murder or manslaughter the family is eligible for a funeral grant of around $10,000,” the statement read.

At least 50 people were killed when a terrorist named Brenton Harrison Tarrant opened fire on worshipers at Friday prayers at Al Noor and Linwood mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand city.

The massacre was broadcast live on the social media actors. Three Turks were among those injured in the terror attack, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. (T/SR/P2)
