Macca Recruits 23,000 Workers to Serve Hajj Pilgrims

Macca, MINA – Mecca Municipality Government recruited more than 23,000 workers in the successful implementation of Hajj season this year, Arabnews reported from the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday, July 27.

The mayor of Macca, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Quwaihis said that all sectors of municipality, departments, sub-municipalities and service centers were fully prepared.

More than 13,000 janitors were employed to ensure overall cleanliness. They are also equipped with the latest equipment such as compressors, pumps, and vacuum cleaners.

They will work 24 hours a day which are divided into shifts and focus on crowded areas. The central team will be allocated to deal with emergencies such as rain or fire. Electric waste and solar energy processing machines will be used.

In addition, in the field of environmental health, the city government has formed teams and committees to monitor markets, food stores, and restaurants.

The team will be responsible for testing food samples, confiscating damaged products, dealing with government agencies such as street vendor distribution committees, pricing committees, water truck sterilization committees, and food control committees.

Slaughterhouses are also inseparable from the attention to be pushed to the highest level of operational capacity which every day receives more than 15,000 cows.

A total of 32 supervision centers have also been established. Field visits and veterinary supervision will be intensified to detect every epidemiological case between animals and ensure meat security given to worshipers.

The plan also includes monitoring urban facilities in Macca and its sacred sites, such as roads, tunnels, bridges, lighting, laundry rooms, and water drainage networks, and overseeing contractors to ensure the provision of each service during the Hajj season.

Running, maintaining electrical and mechanical work in the tunnel of Mecca and its sacred sites is also on the agenda. Tunnel number 58, with 39 control stations, 66,935 lighting units, 599 ventilation fans, and 42 backup power generators, with 40 water pumps and a high-pressure fire extinguisher system are also available.
