Jokowi-Putin to Meet on 33rd ASEAN Summit Singapore

Jakarta, MINA – President Joko Widodo will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of a series of meetings of the ASEAN Summit that will be held in Singapore on November 13-15.

In the ASEAN (Plus One) meeting with Russia, for the first time President Putin comes, perhaps one of them is because of Indonesia as the coordinator of the meeting.

“Putin asked to meet with Jokowi, “said the Foreign Ministry’s Director of External Cooperation, Benny Siahaan, in Jakarta on Thursday, Antara News reported.

Furthermore, in the ASEAN-Russia meeting, President Joko Widodo will convey the shared views of ASEAN member countries to Russia.

“Jokowi will read the ‘ASEAN Common Statement which is a collection of views of ASEAN countries to Russia,” Benny said.

In addition, 10 ASEAN member countries and Russia will also discuss the issue of increasing cooperation in several fields, including in the field of cybersecurity and education.

The big theme of the ASEAN Summit that was carried out during the tenure of Singapore was “ASEAN Resilient and Innovative “.

In the three-day ASEAN Summit series, President Jokowi also plans to attend around 17 ASEAN meetings, including the ASEAN Plus Three meeting, the East Asia Summit (EAS), and several ASEAN Plus One meetings. (T/Sj/RS5)
