Jakarta Police Requires Phone Number and Email for Electronic Ticketing

Jakarta, MINA – The Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police will require phone numbers and e-mail addresses (e-mail) for people who buy vehicles for easy identification when applying electronic ticketing.

“Now, every new vehicle’s buyer must have a phone number and email address, ” said Traffic Director of the Jakarta Metro Police, Senior Commissioner  Yusuf, reported by Antara News, Wednesday.

“The main purpose of this policy is to make it easier for officers to confirm if there is a case of motorcycle theft, a criminal case and relate with the existence of this electronic ticketing, “Yusuf said.

Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) will be tested in October in Jakarta. The ticket will be done based on electronic data. High-tech CCTV cameras are installed at every intersection along Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin street.

“The capture of images from CCTV will be sent directly to the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Management Center (TMC) for further analysis. “Later there will be an officer who will see the captured image and will determine whether a traffic violation occurred and what kind of violation article,” said Yusuf.

Tickets will be sent to the offender’s house. Furthermore, payment of ticket fees can be made through a bank. Until now, his party is still conducting discussions with relevant parties to determine the amount of CCTV that will be installed and determine the trial mechanism later.
