The sales are considered treasonous among Palestinians who fear Israeli settlers buy property in East Jerusalem.

But among Israelis, they called for authorities to release the man arrested by the PA for the sale.
The Israeli Haaretz newspaper reported that the man is a Palestinian with US citizenship.

Fuad Hallaq, senior adviser to the Palestinian Liberation Organization in Jerusalem said he was convinced that the arrest of Governor Adnan Gheith is part of Israel’s efforts to pressure the Palestinian leader to release the man.
