Indonesian Woman Lifter Wins Two Gold Medals World Championsip

Halmstad, MINA – Indonesian lifter from East Kalimantan, Widari won two gold medals at the 2018 Weighlifting world championship in Halmstad, Sweden on Tuesday.

The General Secretary of the East Kalimantan branch of the Indonesian Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association (PABBSI) said  Sugeng Mochdar in Samarinda as reported by Antara News on Tuesday, Widari competed in the 47 kg women’s class world championship.

“Widari won two gold in the bench press  and a dead lift, while the clean & jerk only won silver medals,” Sugeng said.

Sugeng said that at the bench press, Widari managed to lift a weight of 141 kg or same with double his weight.

However, Sugeng continued, Widari only won a silver medal for the total force and was unable to compete with Japanese lifters.

Sugeng considered, Widari had performed optimally in this event even though he had not been able to reach the title of overall champion in the 47 kg women’s class.

He hopes that in the future Widari can focus more on other international championships.

“The lack of time to rest is enough to disrupt Widari’s preparation to compete, hopefully the next championship will be able to perform better,” he said.

Sugeng added that after this world championship, Widari will return to Samarinda to prepare for the upcoming Provincial Sports Week in East Kalimantan, December 2018. (T/Sj/RS5)
