Indonesian Rowers Win Bronze in Women’s Pairs

Palembang, MINA – Indonesian rowers Julianti and Yayah Rokayah won bronze in the women’s pairs rowing event at the 2018 Asian Games event held at Jakabaring Sports City (JSC) in Palembang on Thursday.

The bronze was the first medal won by the national rowing team in the Games. China’s pair, Ju Rui and Lin Xinyu, grabbed the gold medal in the event, while South Korea’s Jeon Seoyeong and Kim Seo Hee settled for silver, asiangames2018.id reported.

The medals were placed around the winners’ necks by Indonesian Rowing Association (PODSI) secretary-general Edy Suyono at the rowing medal ceremony in JSC’s rowing venue.

Julianti and Rokayah said they were proud to have contributed the first medal from rowing for Indonesia in this year’s Games.

“We have tried our best but we can only give a bronze to Indonesia,” they said after receiving their medals.(L/R04/RS5)
