Jakarta, MINA – The Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives Abdul Kharis Almasyhari has strongly condemned the efforts made by Israel against the site of Al Aqsa Mosque which is a UN-protected site and belongs to the Muslim world.

Israeli police have also shut down Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and barred Palestinian Muslims from performing Friday prayers at the mosque after two Israeli policemen were shot dead by three gunmen in the mosque area.

Kharis confirmed that UNESCO or the United Nations education and culture agency, issued an official statement last year confirming Al Aqsa Mosque (Haram Asy-Syarif complex) is a holy site belonging to Muslims. Thus, efforts to shut down the mosque or all acts of Israeli violence there are not justified at all.

“Including the recent closing of access to the mosque, ransacking worshipers and installing metal detectors and engaging in bloody clashes with pilgrims worshiping and praying,” Kharis said in a release on Tuesday (07/18/2017).

The PKS faction politician also requested that the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia to lodge a protest to the United Nations regarding the Israeli move. Indonesia can send a protest note as a member state of the United Nations with the majority of Muslims, by requesting the UN to protect the Al Aqsa Mosque from the colonization and abuse of the colonial regime.

“If necessary, the UN sends peacekeepers there because the UN resolution is possible,to prevent the reccurence of such incident so that such incidents do not reappear in the efforts of Zionist efforts to disrupt Al Aqsa Mosque,” said the politician representing Central Java eletoral district.Their
