Jakarta, 25 Dzulhijjah 1436/9 October 2015 (MINA) – President Joko Widodo has signed a Presidential Decree offering visa exemption for tourists from 75 countries in an efforts to increase tourists arrivals visiting Indonesia and stimulate the national economy.

The policy is expected to attract 10 million visitors this year and 20 million by 2019, thereby increasing revenue to the
tourism sector, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) quoted Antara News as reporting.

Antara earlier reported that until October 2015, the government’s visa-free policy has significantly boosted foreign tourist arrivals, citing the Indonesian tourism ministry.

The 75 countries whose citizens can avail the visa-free facility are:

The decree mentioned that the free-visa visit applies to foreign nationals who travel, on government duty, education, social, cultural, business, family, or stop over to continue traveling to other countries.

While provisions regarding to procedures for entry and exit of Indonesia for foreign nationals who obtain visa-free visits, and provisions concerning immigration checkpoints will be set through the Minister of Justice and Human Rights. (T/R07/R07)
