INDONESIA PRACTISES “RAHMANI” LEADERSHIP

Jakarta, 24 Shawwal 1435/20 August 2014 (MINA) – Chairman of Nahldatul Ulema committee/ Pengurus Besar Nahldatul Ulama (PBNU), Masdar F. Mas’udi said, Muslims in Indonesia have to practice leadership system protecting all religions (Rahmani).

“The Rahmani leadership is not only serving Muslims, but it also serve non-Muslim,” said Masdar in event of Eid friendship of Muslim Students Alumni Association Corps National Assembly/Korps Alumni Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (KAHMI) entitled ” strengthening brotherhood in Building the Nation “in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to him, leadership with Rahmani model is appropriate with Allah’s word in surah Al Baqarah verse 30. The verse describes that leadership (caliphate) is for the whole of humanity with whatever their religion.

Masdar also asked leaders of Indonesian social organizations to announce the concept of Rahmani leadership to other countries, especially Middle East countries whuch are suffering sectarian conflicts.

Regarding the radical movement of ISIS, Masdar said that they gave protection for their followers, but they threatened other groups.

In the same event, coordinator of KAHMI presidium , Mahfud MD declared that Indonesian people should not be provoked with the issue of presidential election. “It’s time we work together to build Indonesia. Forget political issues and Let’s struggle, ” he said.

The former chairman of Constitutional Court/Mahkamah Konstitusi (MK) also said that Muslims have to develop attitude of Islamic brotherhood among Muslims and  inter-religious tolerance.

Chairman of adviser Assembly of KAHMI, Akbar Tanjung expressed that reformation has made life more transparent and democratic in Indonesia. Therefore, we have to use this moment to improve life of Indonesian nation.

KAHMI has been set up in the Congress of Muslim Students Association/ Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (HMI) in Solo in  1966. HMI realized that alumni of HMI have scattered in various social organizations and political parties when they formulated the formation of KAHMI organization. They scattered in organisations such as Muhammadiyah, NU, while in political parties such as Perti, PSII, NU, and former Masjumi / Parmusi.

KAHMI is special agency of HMI. It serves as forum for consultancy and information for local HMI members. (L/SY/P04/E01)
