INDONESIA LEADS INDIAN OCEAN RIM BUSINESS FORUM

ioraJakarta, 8 Muharram 1437/21 October 2015 (MINA) – The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) held a meeting of the 21th Indian Ocean Rim Business Forum (IORBF) at Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta on 20 October 2015.

The event is one of  15 th Council Meeting of Ministers Meeting (COM) Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) in Padang and Jakarta on 20-23 October 2015.

The meeting was attended by delegates from 10 member countries of IORA;  namely South Africa, Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Madagascar, Oman and Thailand. The Foreign Ministry said in a statement received by MINA.

At the meeting, KADIN accepted the role as his new position be the Chairman of  IORBF replaced Australia. One of Indonesian main program is to encourage bussiness cooperation between the business circles.

The Chairman of KADIN, Suryo Bambang Sulisto stressed the importance of safety at sea trade lanes, fisheries management, trade development and investment, and the development of tourism in the region.

 

The Foreign Ministry fully supported the intensive involvement of businessmen from countries member. It is expected to encourage the development of economic activities in the region.

Member countries IORA are : Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Iran, UniEmirat Emirates, Oman, Yemen, Mauritius, Seychelles, United Arab Comoros, Madagascar, Tanzania, Kenya, Mozambique and South Africa. The partner countries of IORA are United States, Britain, France, Egypt, China and Japan.(L/P008/R03)
