Rakhine, 4 Rajab 1435/3 Mei 2014 (MINA) – The people –mostly Rohingya community-are facing several health care crisis after government held the operation of Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in Maungdaw district –Maungdaw and Buthidaung, said Nuru, an unrecognized village doctor from Maungdaw.

Most of the people- man, women and children- are suffering from various diseases – fever, chicken pox, diarrhea, skin diseases, tuberculosis (TB), and etc.., Nuru said,

The weather condition in this year become hotter than before and the villagers are suffering over heat and skin diseases. The elderly person and children are mostly effected in this over heat condition, said Noor, a village admin office member of Maungdaw south.
Most of the Rohingya villagers from rural areas from Maungdaw and Buthidaung, are facing health care as they depend on the INGO- MSF to health care which was banned by government to operate their activated among the Rohingya community, Noor said.
Uddin, father of a patient from Aley Than Kyaw said, “My daughter has been suffering from fever and chicken pox since April 20, but she doesn’t get any proper treatment as the government health center didn’t give us the treatment and I am not able to go to Maungdaw for my child tratment as I am poor.”
When MSF worked and treated the people in Maungdaw south, we got proper treatment from it. Now, we are facing many difficulties with patients at the moment, Uddin more added
According to villagers, the Rohingya didn’t get any treatment from government health center because the doctors of health center are mostly Rakhines community who didn’t pay any attention on Rohingya patients.
The MSF was banned to operate their program in Maungdaw district by authority for informing and treatment of 22 wounded Rohingya who were injured in beatings and knife attacks during the recent genocidal massacre took place in Du Chee Yar Tan village in Maungdaw Township on 9-13 January killing at least 80 people.
The government police, security forces, Nasaka, Lon Htin, army and members of “969” Buddhist extremist organization were directly involved in the killing, raping, torturing the Muslims and burning and plundering their villages, said Nurul Islam, Chairman of the ARNO at the London Conference on “Decades of Persecution and Destruction of Myanmar’s Rohingya” held on 28 April in London School of Economics.(T/P08/E01)
