Hamas Denounces US Designation of Military Commander as Global Terrorist

US designates senior Hamas commander as ‘global terrorist’.

Gaza, 10 Rajab 1438/07 April 2017 (MINA) – The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement (Hamas) reacted angrily to the US State Department decision on Thursday to designate as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) Abu Anas al-Ghandour.

The designation of al-Ghandour – a commander of Ezz-Eddin El-Qassam, the military wing of the movement, targets the entire Palestinian people and their valiant resistance in favor of the Israeli occupation, KUNA reported, citing the spokesman of the movement Abdullatif Al-Qanou.

“The Israeli occupation authorities are the true terrorists who inflect human and material damage on the occupied territories,” Al-Qanou’ said in a statement.

“The US decision gives the green light to the Israeli occupation authorities to persist in committing more crimes against the Palestinian people,” he charged.

He stressed that the US measures will neither intimidate the Palestinian people nor discourage them from confronting the Israeli occupation with all possible means.

Meanwhile, Sami Abu-Zehri, a leading member of Hamas, said the US decision is an attempt to blur truth and cover up for the Israeli crimes.

“The true terrorists are those who provide Israeli with weapons to kill the Israeli children, not those who defend them against the Israeli crimes,” he told reporters, referring to the US.
