GAZA HOLDS EXHIBITION TO COMMEMORATE NAKBA

Gaza, 14 Rajab 1435/13 Mei 2014 (MINA) –  Palestinian Ministry of Culture in collaboration with local cultural organizations held several exhibitions commemorating the Nakba (the day of catastrophe), in which around 750.000 Palestinian were expelled from their land by Israel on 15 May 1948.

The exhibition entitled “We’re back to our Hometown” was held on Monday (12/5) to commemorate the suffering of the Palestinians while they’re expelled, Israel destroyed hundreds of Palestinian towns and villages as they declared its own independence on the same year.

Person in charge of the event Abdul Qadir Najali said  this event aims to reaffirm the right of the Palestinian people to return to their homeland.

“This exhibition contains a very clear message addressed to the international community and the countries who feel that the independence struggle reclaim the rights of the Palestinian people should continue to take place,” Najali told Miraj Islamic News Agency (MINA)’s correspondent in Gaza.

Various products of Palestinian traditional culture, such as clothing, cooking utensils,  were also exhibited there. In addition, the artists also join the event as they made caricature, miniature mosque of Al Aqsa, Palestine and other miniature maps.

This year is the 66th of the Nakba commemoration.  Every year  Palestinian as well as international activists commemorate ‘the day of catastrophe’ to constantly remind children and grandchildren of the  their  predecessors, the event is also to stressed out the right of Palestinian to their homeland.

Related news, Jerusalem activists representing all major Palestinian parties on Saturday called for Nakba Day commemorations to be held at Damascus gate in the Old City of Jerusalem on May 15.

The activists also called for all Palestinian Jerusalemites to participate in the commemorations and contribute to reviving the memory of the Nakba, or “catastrophe,” among all generations of Palestinians.

The activists highlighted that the commemorations would be national and not party-oriented. (L/K1/K2/K3/P03/E01)
