FUEL FOR ELECTRICITY ENTERS GAZA

Gaza, 27 Sha’ban 1435/25 Juni, 2014 (MINA) – The fuel for electricity power plant entered Gaza Wednesday, following the previous day’s total blackout caused three main generator ran out of fuel.

The Gaza Energy Authority’s representative, Sheikh Fathi Khalil said the fuel was entered through Karim Abu Salim border, so that the schedule of eight hours per day fulfilment could be resumed. The Fuel will come through the Energy Authority in Ramallah,” he said.  

The condition of Gazans are getting worse following the tight blockade since last year. It caused 1.8 million residents live in deficiency. Local authorities progammmed just 4-6 hours a day with electricity.

The Gazans also could not get out from Gaza through Rafah. The border was closed completely since the overthrowing of Egyptian president, Mohammed Mursi by his military in July 2013 . Hundreds of tunnels also being destroyed.

MINA’s correspondent in Gaza reported, this year was the heaviest blockade since last seven years. Rafah Crossing was opened uncertainly.

The Paestinian union goverment resulted from the reconciliation has been running for three weeks, but there had been no significant change to the lives of the people in Gaza. Hundreds of government officials did not received their salaries. Even Israel called for rejection of financial assistance from Qatar.

Azam Al-Ahmad, one of the negotiators of Fatah promised Rafah would be opened for 24 hours after the reconciliation but it had not yet been realized until now.
