Paris, 20 Rabi’ul Awwal 1435/31 December 2015 (MINA) – French interior minister is seeking to halt violence in Corsica after protesters vandalized a Muslim prayer room in anger over an ambush of firefighters, WAM reported.

Bernard Cazeneuve, visiting the Corsican city of Ajaccio on Wednesday, strongly condemned last week’s violence against firefighters and Muslim targets, telling reporters that there is no place in Corsica for violence or racism, according to AP. IINA quoted by Mi’raj Islamaic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

An ambush last Thursday injured two firefighters in a housing project. The reason for the attack remains unclear.

The next day, hundreds of people demonstrated against the violence, when a few dozen broke into a Muslim prayer room and vandalized it. They also vandalized a kebab shop as well.
