Abbas Receives Invitation from King Abdullah to Attend Arab Summit

Ramallah, 29 Rabiul Awwal 1438/29 December 2016 (MINA)  – President Mahmoud Abbas received on Wednesday an invitation from King Abdullah II of Jordan to attend the upcoming Arab summit scheduled for March 29 in Jordan’s capital Amman.

According WAFA Palestinian official news agency, Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh delivered the invitation to Abbas at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.

Abbas praised King Abdullah and the people of Jordan for their continuing support of the Palestinian people and their just cause at all levels.

Judeh, on the other hand, congratulated Abbas on the passage of the United Nations Secretary Council resolution condemning Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and called for an end to settlement activities.

He said the Palestinian issue will top the Arab summit agenda, adding that King Abdullah always says that regardless of what is going on in the world, the Palestinian issue remains a top priority for Jordan.

Foreign Minister Riyad Malki said Abbas and Judeh discussed the latest developments including the upcoming international peace conference that will be held in Paris on January 15 and making the year 2017 as the year to end the Israeli occupation. (T/RS05/RS01)
