Arab League Denounces Guatemala Embassy Shift to Jerusalem

Cairo, MINA – The Arab League has condemned Guatemala’s decision to move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem in May, just two days after the United States plans to relocate its embassy to the holy city.

“Guatemala’s announcement to move its embassy to Jerusalem is a flagrant violation of international laws and will further inflame tensions in the Arab region,” KUNA reported, ciiting the regional bloc’s assistant undersecretary for Palestinian affairs Dr. Saeed Abuali in a statement.

He urged the Latin American nation to renege on this “deplorable decision”, describing it as “null and void.”

Guatemala is the first country to announce it would move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem since US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital last December. (T/RS5/RS1)
