Arab League Condemns Travel Ban on Palestinian Officials

Cairo, MINA – The Arab League strongly condemns Israel’s decision to impose travel ban on two Palestinian officials.

Israel imposed a travel ban ni on members of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Jerusalem Minister Affairs, Adnan al-Husayni, and Jerusalem Governor, Adnan Gheith. Israel also imposed a ban on both of them to communicate with several Palestinian figures.

“The decision is unfair and it is a violation of international law and humanity,” said Saeed Abu Ali, the Arab League assistant secretary general for the Palestinian territories and occupied Arab territories, as quoted Sindonews.

“The ban on travel is a crime committed by the occupying authority,” Abu Ali was quoted as saying by Xinhua on Sunday.

He then called on Israel to overturn its decision and stop the escalation policy against Jerusalem and its Palestinian citizens.

This is not the first time Israel has imposed a travel ban. Earlier this year the Zionist State imposed a travel ban on 20 non-governmental institutions for supporting the pro-Palestinian movement namely boycotts, divestments and sanctions (BDS). The foreign NGO was considered to have advocated a boycott of Israel for its treatment of Palestinians. (T/Sj)RS5
