Occupied Jerusalem, 29 Jumadil Akhir 1438/28 March 2017 (MINA) – At least six Muslim guards at holy Al-Aqsa Mosque are held in Israeli detention centers across Occupied Jerusalem.

The Israeli forces stormed the family homes of Al-Aqsa supervision personnel before they kidnapped Khalil al-Tarhouni, Muhannad Idris, Samer al-Kabani, Kasem Kamal, Osama Seyam, and Ahed Joudeh. The detainees were all dragged to Israeli detention centers in Occupied Jerusalem.

Earlier on Monday, four guards at al-Aqsa—Salman Abu Mayala, Luay Abu al-Saad, Hamza Namer, and Arafat Najib—were arrested by the Israeli forces, the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.

The occupation authorities extended their remand pending their appearance before the Magistrate’s Court sometime on Tuesday.

Hamza Namer, Arafat Najib, Kasem Kamal, Khalil al-Tarhouni, Samer al-Kabani, and Osama Seyam are still held in Israeli custody pending their trial. The four others were released at daybreak Tuesday following intensive questioning.

The guards were arrested by the Israeli forces after they aborted a stone-theft attempt by an Israeli archaeologist at Al-Aqsa Mosque. The settler was intercepted and prevented from stealing an ancient stone.

Palestinian activists have launched calls to intensify presence at Al-Aqsa in response to Israel’s arbitrary arrests of supervision staff and so as to defend the site and the peaceful Muslim worshipers against projected Israeli aggressions.(T/R04/RS5)
