150,000 Umrah Pilgrims Come Across King Abdulaziz Int’l Airport Since Beginning of Umrah

Jeddah, Safar 23, 1438, November 23, 2016 (MINA) – Statistical report by King Abdulaziz International Airport revealed that the total number of Umrah performers who have arrived via the terminals of Hajj and Umrah until Wednesday reached 150,000, aboard 550 flights, while 20,000 left through 130 trips.

Pilgrims arrival scored upward movement since the beginning of the season, SPA reported.

It is expected to see in the coming days a significant increase, accounting for 50% of the oncoming traffic of pilgrims through the ports of Saudi Arabia.

According to reports, Umrah visas in 2016 increased by seven percent over their number last year to reach 6.4 million.

This is still below the ministry’s ambitious plan of receiving about eight million Umrah pilgrims.

The revenues to be generated by the Umrah season are expected to soar over SR200 billion by the year 2020. (T/R07/R01)
